Having been within the health and fitness industry for many years I have seen the many fads and diet trends, confusing advice and experienced the many pressures to look a certain way or feeling like we should or shouldn't be eating this or that. By unsubscribing from everyone else’s view of ‘healthy’ and letting go what I thought was my ‘ideal’ body image and instead trusting my own body, listening to its unique needs and experimenting with what worked best for me or not, I found my way of nourishing my body that gives me energy, glowing skin, balanced hormones, a happy digestive system, a healthy and natural weight and one that leaves me feeling happy and at my best.
From the outside, my body may not be “perfect” but on the inside, I am healthy, I am happy and I feel free to be me. I have learned to love that my body is unique, that my healthiest body shape and size isn’t the media’s perception of the perfect body but rather my healthiest and natural weight is also unique to me.
What I have learned through my nutrition and naturopathic studies, my experience with clients and and through my own personal journey is that a healthy body begins with a healthy relationship with yourself first, and that we need to adjust our approach from the outside in and rather finding true health and wellbeing from within.
We need to turn inwards and begin to change our mindset from a perfect body image or a perfect diet to aiming for health, happiness and balance. There is no one diet that suits all and one of the greatest tools we can learn is to tune in to our own body and learn and discover what works best for ourselves to allow us to feel our best. It is by listening to your own body you can find a diet that is best for you and your unique nutritional needs.
When we approach health from the inside out and shift our focus from diets, counting calories, restrictive eating, ‘good and bad’ foods to a focus on nourishing our body and choosing foods based on how they make you feel, you begin to heal your relationship with food and rediscover a refreshing and empowering relationship with yourself that rewards you with health, happiness, energy, a healthy weight and feeling great.
Now as a mum with a toddler, I appreciate more than ever how busy life can get yet how important it is to look after ourselves. Together with my professional and personal experience I hope to offer practical and achievable advice to help you to feel your healthiest whether you are a busy parent, corporate worker, business owner or student.
Through applying what I have learned in my health studies and learning to listen to and trust my body I have gained much health, happiness and freedom. I hope to help you reconnect within, share practical and nutritional guidance and lifestyle tips to help you to discover an approach to your health that will also reward you with health, wellness and joy.
